About the Presenter: Kara Kushnir, LCSW, PMH-C is the owner and founder of A Work of Heart Counseling - a private outpatient psychotherapy practice serving women, children and adolescents. Kara is highly trained and skilled in working with individuals navigating anxiety, trauma, pregnancy/postpartum, and the demands of working mom life - she supports local women and families in their healing journey. Kara completed her Master of Social Work (MSW) Degree from Rutgers University where she focused on clinical social work practice. She has also completed post-graduate training and completed certifications in Child & Adolescent Mental Health (Rutgers University), is Perinatal Mental Health Certified (PMH-C) through Postpartum Support International, and has completed extensive training in Exposure and Response Prevention through the Cognitive Behavior Institute in PA. Kara is also trained in SPACE by Dr. Eli Leibowitz at the Yale Child Study Center. She is presently pursuing her certification in EMDR after completing her training in EMDR through The Institute for Creative Mindfulness/The Touchstone Institute. Kara also serves as the Education & Training Committee Chair for Postpartum Support International - NJ and co-leads the Bergen County Climb out of the Darkness to benefit PSI. She is an advocate for women's health as a mother and female health professional.
